Statement
For this Work in Progress critique, I really looked into what sickness felt like for me. I leaned into how uncomfortable and out of the world it feels for your body to be constantly attacking an unwanted pathogen. I wanted to show this changing metamorphosis through opposing moving image on photography, making something still constantly move. I had used still photographs of flowers gifted to me from friends and family while I was extremely sick, something that symbolises and characterises me as a sort of self-portrait. Each photo was then deconstructed and put into Photoshop to distort the colours and light within the photograph digitally. I had manipulated the colour graphs, inversion, colour temperatures, and exposure of each photo to create these abstract colour maps that distort the form of the flowers. I haven’t as yet added sound, however, I intend to add a soundtrack to each looped video so audiences can experience all of them as an orchestra or each body of work as its own identity.
WIP Feedback
I had presented my work in the animation studio lab across 7 monitors. This was a prompt to install as I had intended to get 7 monitors, however, that was not available. This room creates an interesting relationship with space and technology. I liked the space between each monitor and how the environment will contain and echo sound.
The critique from my teachers and classmates was extremely helpful in directing me to the correct direction of resolution.

People had mentioned that the flowers that showed a shallower depth of field had a better sense of movement than those that felt flat. I want to see if I have more photos that mimic this depth, and take more if I do not find the photos I need.
-
Another problem that came up was the format of the videos concerning the monitors. Because some of the videos are portrait, I need to be wary of how I present my work. To resolve this, I will seek out monitors and fit the video to the screen dimensions, I will need to figure out where to install this within RMIT
-
Artists to look at were Cecilia Sordi Campos and Lauren Elkin’s book Art Monsters: Unruly Bodies in feminist art (from the project plan feedback), through both of these works, I want to explore both techniques and philosophies that will help support the meaning and fundamentals within my work

Sound Design
The next part to this project is to make the sound design. I want to create a spacialised sound by having each video have its own individual sound that when put together creates a chior experience. This will furthur build on audience being, really testing their patience with being in an uncomfortable state of anticipation and discomfort.
